Your hosts at The Lodge in 2010 are Lisa Schweitzer and Maureen Halpin.
Does one of those names sound familier? Read on!
Lisa is back! After a year away from the slopes, teaching at Jindabyne Central School, she has decided that there is more Lodge life in her yet. Her education degree is in Physical Education, and yet she found herself also teaching Science and History. She has now wrapped her head around the Periodic Table and the structure of an atom!
Lisa’s skiing life started in Thredbo 1983, followed by participation in Mike Dempsey’s infamous Ski to Instructor Level program, gaining her Canadian Level 2 certification and, of course, managing lodges. Whilst completing her Bachelor’s degree, many years were spent in the Terrigal hospitality scene working in a variety of well known establishments. Sprinkled amongst extended teaching blocks was much travelling around the world and all of this experience has culminated in another Australian winter season.
Maureen is a hospitality professional having discovered her passion for this when she moved to Australia from New Zealand in 1981. Purchasing a café in 1989 was the start and the rest, as they say, is history. Maureen has two grown sons, one of whom has just become a well respected young chef on the coast. Lodge guests from 2006 may remember Tom, who learned under Chef Andy’s tutelage where he became inspired to learn great food.
Maureen is well known around Terrigal for managing a variety of restaurants and cafes, running a professional and friendly team, whilst delivering fabulous service over the years. The 2009 ski season was spent in Queenstown, NZ where Maureen got a taste for the mountains and looks forward to the Australia’s version of snow. Now that her boys are all grown up, Maureen has decided to get out there and live life! And she makes a great coffee!
Lisa and Maureen have been good friends for over 10 years now. Having similar passions for food, wine and providing great service to guests, they decided that a girls' own adventure was in order and have decided to share the challenge of providing a fresh on-snow experience in The Lodge.
With Lisa and Maureen at the helm, you can be assured of a continuation of the great service and warm hospitality for which The Lodge is famous. They look forward to meeting you soon.
